A welcoming place for matcha, ritualand moments in between.

Behind the counter, the iron kama keeps the water hot on its walnut block. The bamboo ladle lifts it out, and the whisks stand ready in a row.

Five matchas

Every matcha has its own character, and we’d love for you to get to know ours. From rich and creamy to light and delicate, each brings something a little different to your cup. Two come from Kagoshima, three from Uji.

How do you drink it?
What do you taste for first?

Usucha, umami first: Ujihikari, umami 5 of 5.

/flavour/

Our own method. We whisk matcha directly with cold milk to create a smooth, velvety texture while preserving the delicate character of our matcha.

Also on the menu: Strawberry Matcha Cloud, Matcha Yuzu Tonic and Banana Hojicha Cloud. Oat milk, coconut and strawberry are among the ingredients; ask at the counter about allergens.

The things we make, the way we make them, and the atmosphere around them.

  • Brass HŌMU MATCHA letters on a lit plaster wall.
  • A long walnut counter with the kama, the ladle and the whisks in plain view.
  • A wall of sixteen small ledges, one bowl or teapot on each.
  • A hanging scroll of ink bamboo, and moss-ball plants.
  • A ledge to sit at with a matcha and a laptop.

From Japan to Berlin

The story of our matcha begins long before it reaches your cup. From Uji to Kirishima and Kagoshima, different origins, cultivars and craftsmanship shape every expression. The journey continues here.

Uji, Kyoto

Hōmu’s Ujihikari, a single cultivar. Isuzu and Chigi no Shiro come from Marukyu Koyamaen, a tea maker that dates back to 1704.

Kagoshima

Hōmu’s Kiri Blend, four cultivars: Saemidori, Okumidori, Yabukita and Okuyutaka. And Hōmu’s Okumidori, one cultivar on its own, the matcha in the London Fog.

See you at HŌMU.

“Premium Matcha authentic from Japan, which I never experienced in Berlin before. The decorations are also truly elegant.”
